Insider Tips For Landing The Job Of Your Dreams
You are fresh from college? Have you been in the labor market looking for a job that, at least to pay the bills? Have you been working, but you think your work is a nightmare? Looking for a career revolution? Look no further, as I bring you good news. Read on as I expose the tips you need to land your dream job; tips that you know, but probably were not aware.
Perhaps you have wondered why all applications for various positions have been hitting a brick wall. Perhaps you have concluded that the idea of a dream job is a mistake. No, there is no such thing as a dream job – a job that pays just enough to live a decent life, but also meets your career goals and aspirations. After working as a specialist recruitment and organizational development consultant for several years, I saw thousands of people lose the opportunities that abound for the job of your dreams.
By the various coaching sessions I had with people looking for work, I have isolated six critical areas of fire that produce fast results for anyone who pays attention and implements.
1. Never use a generic resume
For each position is required, but never make the mistake of submitting the same resume that you used for another position. Customize your resume to match realistic expectations for the new position. Carefully read the job description to identify the critical areas of the company is emphasizing. For each job you apply, you may need to emphasize certain skill-set and experience, while you can de-emphasize others. Today more than ever, recruiters are bombarded with incredibly high number of applications from job seekers. There is no time to review all resumes. They either seek the necessary skills, knowledge and experience, or use a keyword software to determine how many words related to the curriculum (in this case do not even get to see your resume, if not pass the test key word). What you do, then, is cleverly re-write your resume for each position you apply for. You can use the services of a curriculum coach to help you scale this hurdle.
2. Acquiring the certification in question.
Every employer wants to hire people who can demonstrate mastery of the job for which they are applied. In many cases, the first factor (a recruiter), your competence in any field is the certification you have acquired in this field. Getting a degree is good, but it is best to complete your degree by taking relevant professional courses. I say important, because many people get on the bandwagon when it comes to certifications. They do not address precisely what certifications they need more, before making their choices. I’m just going with the popular choices are not always right. My advice to you is to carefully evaluate your options, be clear about what you want for a career and ask questions from those who identify as success in your field. Let them explain why you should take a particular certification against another. Ultimately, your aspiring employer wants to see the fit between what you have and what he needs.
3. Find a mentor.
A friend once said that “Your mentor is the prophetic picture of your preferred future.” There is nothing new under the sun. No results strange aspiration is not out-of-this-world. All I can think of, was hit by someone, somewhere. All you have to do is find the person and the journey is half completed. If, for example, is seeking a position as a network engineer, why not try to network engineers around you and tell them about your career goals. Let me give advice business networking. They can also inform about the opportunities it presents, outsiders can not know. Always ask them to give you the necessary advice to aid your job search. They can also be your guide in choosing the certifications to take.
4. Network yourself to your dream job.
More than any other tip, this is the most effective. Your dream job could be at this social event or a professional workshop that was considered to avoid or trivial. During this period of economic downturn, organizations seek to cut costs as much as possible. Ads for various positions are more common as they used to be. Instead, recruiters are looking for qualified leads through headhunting, which is usually done in informal settings.
In your search for your dream job, I urge you to seek opportunities to assist or participate in features that characterize the professionals in various disciplines. Start exploring events such as seminars, conferences, social events, religious festivals and even social networks like Facebook and Twitter on the web. Give your voice, tell people about your expertise and let them know the opportunities you seek. Professionals more like friends that you, the quicker you can land your dream job.
5. Develop presentation skills of sound.
You have to talk your way to your dream job. No matter your experience, you must be able to convince your employer that you know what reflects your resume or states. I have seen candidates who are highly qualified for the job requested, but the presentation skills are lacking. Not what you say, but how do you say that counts. I can cite cases of people who are less qualified for a job, but which were then used, simply because they HAD a strong style and impeccable presentation and were able to speak Their way to work. Before the next interview would be useful to assess how confident, strong and brilliant you are in conversation. You may need to talk to someone that you admire the communication skills to guide you. Practice how to compose yourself before an interviewer and learn to speak with passion and intuition.
6. Believe in yourself
While working to find your dream job, I encourage you to stay positive and believe in yourself. Your level of confidence before and during the interviews is a reflection of what you worked for your beliefs about yourself. Do not doubt that you’re the best person for a position, do not be intimidated by other people’s profiles or qualifications. Do your homework and believe that your work is, although there are a thousand people as qualified as you are.
